Legislative Compliance
Municipalities in Alberta are governed under the Municipal Government Act which outlines the fundamental purposes of municipalities, which include providing good government, fostering well-being, providing desirable services and facilities, and developing safe and viable communities. The Act empowers municipalities to shape their communities. It regulates how municipalities are funded and how as local governments they should govern and plan for growth.
In March of 2025, Council request a Legislative Compliance check which was approved in on June 12, 2025.
