Gibbons Community League
GIBBONS COMMUNITY LEAGUE RESURGENCE
What is the Community League?
The Gibbons Community League is an informal organization made up of local sporting groups, service clubs and not-for-profit organizations.
In a community the size of Gibbons, being able to share resources, ideas, members, athletes and volunteers is crucial not only to the long term health of the organizations within our town, but to our residents and families through providing better opportunities to lead active, well balanced lives.
This recently formed organization exists to give forum to these groups in an effort to open the lines of communication, coordinate events and fundraising as well as to share resources such as equipment and volunteers.
What benefits are there to being a part of the Community League?
Many not-for-profit organizations struggle with the same issues of recruiting new members, fundraising, volunteerism and volunteer burnout. Organizations belonging to the Community League have the opportunity and contacts to pool their resources to ease the strain on their members. Partnering in fundraising, registrations and events can allow for better events and larger scale fundraisers. Just like the saying "more hands mean less work".
What organizations have taken part in the Community League?
A number of organizations have taken an active roll in the Community League. They are:
Sturgeon River Historical Society
Royal Canadian Legion Gibbons Branch 226
Sturgeon AG Society
Yobukan Karate Parent Association
Gibbons Girl Guides
