Meet Council

The Town of Gibbons is administered by a Mayor and six councillors, the selection of the Deputy Mayor is on a rotating basis (6 months) alphabetically slotted by the surnames of the Councillors. Day-to-day operations are directed by the Town Manager.

Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month (unless otherwise advertised) at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Office located at 4807 - 50th Avenue. All regular meetings are open to the public to the public. Please call 780-923-3331 for an appointment to speak.

Mayor Bill Nimmo currently serves on the Intermunicipal Subdivision & Development Appeal Board, Council representative with the Seniors Twilight Club and the Capital Region Board as well as serving as alternate on numerous other boards and bodies.  
Lanny Boutin currently serves as council representative on the Northern Lights Library Association, Gibbons Library Board, Pottery Guild, Assessment Review Board, Subdivision Authority and the Capital Region Northeast Water Commission.  Lanny also serves as alternate on a number of other boards and bodies.
George Fraser serves as council representative on the Sturgeon Foundation, Gibbons Regional Business Association, Subdivision Authority, the Gibbons/Bon Accord Food Bank and the Capital Region Wastewater Commission.  George also serves as alternate on a number of other boards and bodies. Doug Horner serves as council representative on the Disaster Services Committee, Assessment Review Board, Gibbons Fire Department, Gibbons Citizens on Patrol, Sturgeon Regional Economic Development Committee and the Capital Region Northeast Water Commission.  Doug also serves as alternate on a number of other boards and bodies.
Ed Parsons serves as the council representative on the Subdivision Authority, Roseridge Landfill Commission, Disaster Services Committee, Waste Minimization Committee and the Assessment Review Board.  Ed also serves as alternate on a number of other boards and bodies. Nikki Smyth currently serves as a council representative on the Assessment Review Board, Agricultural Society, Curling Club, Community Services Board, Joint Use Committee for Gibbons and Landing Trail School and the Subdivision Authority.  Nikki also serves as alternate on a number of other boards and bodies.
Bart Wyatt serves as council representative on the Assessment Review Board, Subdivision Authority, Disaster Services Committee, Sturgeon River Historical Society. Bart also serves as alternate on a number of other boards and bodies. Henry Taylor, Town Manager reports to Town Council as the Chief Administrative Officer and Principle Advisor to Council, directs the overall planning, coordination and control of all municipal operations of the Town in accordance with the objectives, policies, and plans approved (or implied) by Council and the requirements of the Municipal Government Act and all other statutory regulations affecting the governing of the Town.
